Friday Elective Curriculum

On Fridays, we provide students with a carousel of activities termed ‘Friday Elective’. This takes place during Friday afternoons and students select an activity at the beginning of each half-term. This can be anything from an extension of curriculum content to new, interesting taster activities. Wider benefits of the programme include:

Enhanced Confidence: Participating in Friday Electives allows ACE Tiverton students to develop skills and competencies outside of the regular academic curriculum. Success and growth in these activities can boost a student's self-esteem and confidence, as they gain a sense of accomplishment and recognition.

Resilience: Activities often involve facing challenges, setbacks, and competition. These experiences teach our students how to handle adversity, persevere through difficulties, and develop resilience, which are valuable life skills.

Relationships: Activities provide opportunities for students to connect with peers who share similar interests. These relationships can lead to lasting friendships and a sense of belonging, which is crucial for emotional well-being and social development.

Social and Emotional Intelligence: Participation exposes students to a diverse range of experiences and interactions. This helps them develop their social and emotional intelligence, including skills such as empathy, communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
